The first thing Apptakes does is leave feedback — whether the tester does or not. Every session is captured automatically. And when they do have something to say, a microphone floats right on your app: talk, record the screen, or type it, the moment it happens.
Left without a noteThe activity still informs the report
What the developer learnsSave and export need investigation. You have the action sequence and captured errors to start from — even without a bug report.

Two ways to get a better beta
Less chasing. More understanding.
You did the work to find testers. You shouldn't have to rely on everyone remembering to write a detailed report afterward.
When they say nothing, their session still tells a story.
After consent, Apptakes records clicks, navigation and activity, flags certain errors, and builds a session record.
Every visit becomes a record: date, time, engaged span, pages and errors.
Follow the sequence of actions — what they actually did in your app.
Review captured errors and available session replay.
Get an AI-written narrative to guide your investigation.
A microphone that hovers on your app.
The moment a tester hits a problem, the feedback button is already there — floating over your app, one tap away. No forms, no email, no "I'll write it up later." They can talk, record their screen to show the issue start to finish, or just type it.
Speak while the thought is fresh — voice notes are transcribed for you.
Record the screen on supported desktop browsers to show an issue from start to finish.
Type a quick note whenever a microphone isn't convenient.
Every note arrives attached to its session: the activity, errors and replay behind it.
The tester promise
It starts by telling the truth.
Good feedback dies when asking feels like work — or when recording feels sneaky. So Apptakes opens every beta honestly: the app is in beta, activity is being logged to help improve it, and saying something takes one tap. Testers who know the deal give better feedback. Every tester, in every app, sees these exact words:
BetaThe notice every tester sees
This app is in beta. To save you time and trouble, we’ve built in Apptakes, our own feedback tool. It sends us feedback from your session and alerts us to any bugs or errors you run into. Tap the button anytime to talk or type a note to us, or record a video of your screen to show us an issue from start to finish.
That approved wording ships inside the Apptakes widget — the same notice for every tester, in every app that installs it. Read how the data is handled.
Simple, per app
One rate. Not one rate per seat.
Most feedback tools meter by seat, project or session. Apptakes is a flat rate per app you're testing — whether it's one tester or a hundred.
Honest status: paid billing is built (Stripe) but not yet turned on — every account today is on the free tier while we finish our own two-week internal beta. The $19/app/month rate above is our planned price, not a live charge. See what's required to install it.
Why Apptakes
Built around the part of beta testing that breaks.
Getting a sign-up is one thing. Getting useful feedback is another. Apptakes brings the evidence and the conversation into the app they're already testing.
Feedback doesn't depend on a form.
A consenting tester can leave no comment and still produce activity worth reviewing. You have more to work with than a list of people who signed up.
Actions and opinions belong together.
Voice and typed notes sit alongside the session's activity, errors and available replay. You can investigate a comment in context.
Your own account, your own data.
Each developer's apps, sessions and replay are isolated to their own account — nobody else can read them.
Fits into the app you've already built
Set it up once. Learn as people test.
1
Sign in, register your app.
Create a free account, register your web app, and copy the generated script tag — or hand the install kit to your AI coding assistant and let it place the widget for you.
2
Tester: use the app.
They accept the recording disclosure and test in their browser. The feedback button is right there when they want to speak, type or start a supported screen recording.
3
Review and improve.
Sign in and every app you've installed is listed with its own reports under it: the AI narrative, the tester's notes, errors and replay. A report email can follow each session too.
Do I get anything if a tester never submits feedback?
In full recording mode, after consent, the widget captures supported activity and periodically sends it to your session dashboard. You can review captured events, estimated engagement, errors and available replay even when no note is submitted. Delivery depends on connectivity and browser behavior — it isn't a guarantee every event arrives.
Is this a keystroke logger?
No. It records the beta session so you can debug it: by default, text testers type into your app's fields is shown in the replay so you can see their real input. Password fields are always masked. One switch per app in Setup masks every field instead.
How is this different from a survey or session replay tool?
A survey depends on someone replying. Replay helps you inspect behavior. Apptakes combines passive session evidence, easy in-app notes, an AI-written narrative and follow-up tracking in one workflow.
Will it slow my app down?
Capturing events, replay and recordings adds some processing and network traffic. The effect depends on your app, device and recording mode. A suggestions-only mode (data-mode="suggest") is available when you want voluntary feedback without automatic activity capture or replay.
Does it work on phones and PWAs?
Yes, for browser-based web apps, including mobile browser experiences and web PWAs where the required browser features are supported. Voice needs microphone permission. Optional screen video is available on supported desktop browsers only. There's no separate native iOS or Android app.
Can I sign up today?
Yes — create a free account and register your app. We're still in our own internal beta with three of our own products, so expect rough edges and direct attention if you run into one. Paid plans aren't charging yet; see Pricing above.
Make the next beta more useful.
See the tester's experience for yourself. Open the demo, try an action, and leave a thought using the feedback button.
